FPGA Firmware Developer

Squirrels is seeking a highly motivated and driven FPGA developer possessing a logic design and development skill set. This fast-paced and challenging position will be responsible for immediately contributing to new Squirrels hardware initiatives. If you like to help rapidly build things from scratch and see them take flight, then this position is for you!

In this position, you will be programming high-performance FPGA chips for use in blockchain, cryptocurrency, audio, video and networking products in an Agile, team-centric environment. From the start, you'll be expected to implement core functionality for upcoming hardware projects; improve performance of existing bitstreams and rapidly improving existing core workflows. You will be responsible for ensuring bitstreams operate efficiently and with low latency on an array of FPGA hardware. Your work will involve interfaces to software across Windows, Linux and macOS and across processor architectures like x86 and ARM.

You will be directly responsible for helping Squirrels shape exciting new products we ship to our customers as well as challenging everyone in the office for Cruis'n USA supremacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing new bitstreams for FPGAs in blockchain/cryptocurrency products as well as audio/video products
  • Improve stability and performance of core Squirrels technologies including bitstreams, hashing algorithms, audio and video encoder/decoder performance and networking performance
  • Write unit tests for new functionality that is added to new core codebases and display a desire to "test early, test often"
  • Contribute functional tests where necessary to aid in improving our automated testing strategy

Requirements:

  • Experience with Vivado, Verilog, Xilinx FPGA RTL development
  • Comfort working in any operating environment such as Linux, Windows, Mac or Android
  • A desire to work with a team to deliver software regularly and on schedule
